Question for @CassSunstein — are you also concerned that there is ideological overrepresentation of right-wing thought among military officers, CEOs and evangelical leaders? Why does only one institution's ideological diversity concern you?: bloomberg.com/view/articles/…

We have lived under right-wing economic rule for 50 years. Right-wing groups used their money and power to shred the welfare state, transfer our commonwealth into private hands and throw millions into economic precarity, slowing our growth and causing unnecessary hardship...
...And instead of examining the "ideological diversity" of those who hold the real power in America — the people with the money who buy our politicians and control our economic institutions — many of our leading public voices are uni-focused on college campuses.
It's okay to examine the deep structure of one institution — especially one that a lot of people pass through like college campuses... but it just seems like such an outsized fixation relative to the deepest movers-and-shakers in our politics.
Also, I'll note that I dropped off a copy of my book, Our Bicentennial Crisis (hlrecord.org/2017/10/our-bi…), about the corporate interest nature of Harvard Law School, at @CassSunstein's office last year.
If he reads it, he'll see that it's hard to accuse a school like HLS of "liberal bias" when 80% of its graduates use their degrees to advance corporate interests — and when millions of dollars have been given by the Olin Foundation to expand rightist legal thought at the school.
One last note: perhaps the largest diversity problem on prominent college campuses is economic diversity. If you want to increase the range of worldviews on college campuses, perhaps increase the range of backgrounds that students are coming from: nytimes.com/interactive/20…
