THREAD: As Ramirez's attorney heads to CNN to try to stop Kavanaugh's confirmation, here are the emails the Judiciary Committee's contact has sent. Let's start with the last: 1/
/ So here's the Judiciary Committee reaching out to Ramirez's attorney FIRST.
/ Ramirez's attorney says: "Thanks for reaching out. I will consult with my client and get back to you." And Judiciary Committee immediately replies: "Appreciate it, Mr. Garnett." But then the games begin: "On appropriate terms..."
/ Okay, so everything is in The New Yorker, right? Well, before we answer that, we're not looking to actually talk to staffers, you know: "We would also be interested exploring Ms Ramirez’s willingness to speak directly with Members, not at the staff level."
/ Well, first, the Judiciary Committee contact says, we need to know first what information Ramirez has and if she will talk to investigators. Sorry, not telling you that, Ramirez's attorneys say. Judiciary contact tries again: We would welcome her statement & that of witnesses
/ Ramirez's attorney continues to ignore question & instead try to schedule a phone call. Judiciary contact says, here, let's try this again, we need to know some things before talking. So Dems judiciary rep steps in & says oh, don't worry, you don't need to answer, we'll talk
/ Ramirez's attorneys schedule conference with the Judiciary Democrat reps solo, and ignore the Chair's reps request for information, which prompted the final email (which I began with).
/8 So those are the facts. In black and white. The blabbering attorney on CNN is there because he wants publicity. He's pushing his client's hit job on Kavanaugh in the press. My only question is: Will @MichaelAvenatti be on with CNN next? END
