Have done a good amount of thinking about this confirmation circus. The Left has done something incredibly dangerous here—they’ve made questioning accusations equivalent to supporting the alleged crime. This is not how democracies work. This is how mobs work. /1
The pins,the shirts, the stickers—everything. The “I believe” isn’t about supporting victims of sexual assault. It’s about pigeoning anyone who believes in due process as some sort of condoner of rape.Politically useful? Sure. Socially deleterious and utterly reprehensible? Yep.
To believe there must be a threshold of evidence to condemn the accused is now equivalent to supporting rape. The Left is prescribing new rules, and this won’t end well for men or women. /3
If we don’t give the accused and the accuser their fair shake, women will be seen as liabilities in the workplace or any place where they mix with men and men, as monsters. This is very, very bad. /4
Hearing both sides (and if it were a trial, due process) is what holds this balance together. Without it, we would live in acrimonious chaos. Is this what the Left wants? /5
