Some thoughts on the nature of our democracy at this inflection point in history:

This.
This little hundred-year-egg perfectly illustrates just what we're fighting to protect:
We're fighting to protect a nation where someone born into a system that treats them as less-than full citizens can work to ensure that justice and equality can - and will - come to treat them as equal partners over the course of a lifetime or two.... if we are dedicated to it.
A nation where, if we see something running counter to the way things should work, we can fix it.

But Democracy isn't easy. It takes work.
You don't have the democracy you deserve,
the democracy you're entitled to,
or the democracy you are destined to:

You have the democracy you earn.
And seeing the support of someone who has already passed their centennial really matters - not only because they support what we're fighting for right now;

Because they remember what it was like before they counted.
And shit, yo. That makes this little experiment in social engineering that's been running for almost 400 years now worth continuing, through whatever we have to contribute, be it time or money... taxes, donations, or volunteerism, because, at its core...
We make a democracy rich through our blood, sweat, and tears.

And when we enrich our democracy, we enrich ourselves, both literally and spiritually.
And that does something incredibly dangerous: it gives me an idea for how to make it easier for everyone to contribute to making our democracy rich, in terms of social wealth and health, beyond our wildest dreams. 😉
[ this is a rough draft of something I'll undoubtedly rewrite later, please forgive any clunkers in the prose; I just wanted to share it now to make sure that @gmp_01 knows how much what she shared means to me ❤️ ]
