A lot of people have written to me to express their appreciation for this. It wasn't my intention, but I do seem, strangely to have something with a magical and very useful property. Readers report they were a) distracted from the Supreme Court follies from the beginning to end;
and b) able to share it with friends, family, and co-workers and talk about for the length of an otherwise elevator ride without getting into a fight about Trump, the Supreme Court, or Brexit, and without being sexually harassed or accused of it. So it seems to be:
1) Safe for work;
2) A non-awkward conversation starter;
3) Unlikely to lead to anyone crying, getting fired, or needing a therapist.
I didn't realize this when I wrote it, but I now advise everyone to print this out and keep it on hand in case you need it.

If I could proofread this, @jack, why don't you let us? I would add the work "written" before "something, and "awkward" before "elevator." And that would make much more sense, wouldn't it?
Oh, and I'd correct the typo in that Tweet, too. Wouldn't it make more sense if I'd written, "If *only* I could proofread this?" And "word" for "work"? (Well, I can proofread, but it makes no difference: I can't *fix* the errors without deleting and starting from scratch.)
