Jeff Flake and Joe Manchin voted in favour of proceeding to the final vote on Kavanaugh.
If Democrat Manchin votes yes in the final vote, Murkowski (a no on this procedural vote) and Collins could both vote no and Kavanaugh would still be confirmed.
Manchin has sounded positively disposed toward Kavanaugh throughout the process. He said yesterday, "I am looking at the gentleman as an adult from 22 to 53, 31 years of professional service. I am looking at him as a father." aljazeera.com/news/2018/10/k…

Most of the heroin Trump is talking about comes through legal ports of entry, not through unwalled areas.
Trump has never personally presented detailed data about how many children are being fraudulently used for border-crossing purposes, merely implying it's common. The evidence suggests it's a small minority of the families who cross.
Democrats have not made a "request" for a steel barrier, as far as anyone knows. They don't want any of this.

In my experience, immediately fact-checking Trump's immigration lies is harder than immediately fact-checking most other Trump lies -- they're often written into his speeches by people more sophisticated at deception than he is.
Most of Trump's lying is just Trump being a liar -- it's him ad-libbing out of speeches that are more or less factual. The immigration lying is an administration-wide strategy.
He repeats a lot of them, so outlets should be prepared to respond to those right away. But there's really no way to counteract a barrage of live-to-air Trump immigration lies with fact-checking, even if live-TV-fact-checking were a common thing - you can't do it fast enough.

Ok, all. It's officially Wednesday, so here's what's next w/ #Kavanaugh.

1. The FBI investigation will likely be concluded today. The report will likely be filed (TBD) w/o an interview Dr. Ford, or classmates listed by Deborah Ramirez, and no Julie Swetnick.
E.g. A story covering how the FBI won't interview Dr. Ford. cnbc.com/2018/10/02/fbi…

In other words, we can hope for the best when it comes to the investigation, but we're mostly likely going to get the worst.
There's also debate on whether the report will be released to the public. Mitch McConnell says hell no. Other Senators disagree. Keep this in mind for some of our next steps.
