Last month there was intensive coverage of Sweden Democrats, who were never realistically going to take power. Tonight Brazil might take a major step to electing a far right President yet this election in a far larger and more fragile democracy has barely been covered at all.
All the people who defended their constant Sweden Dems coverage by saying it is vital to discuss this emerging threat to democracy need to ask themselves why they don’t see any need to cover a much bigger threat to a much bigger democracy
A prediction I’ll likely repeat- we will see same kind of bias next yr when hacks descend en masse to Athens to hype up New Dawn 10% fringe in Greece Paul Mason style (“austerity leads to fascism!!”) while ignoring actual radical right rt govt cruising to re-election in Poland
