I seriously doubt that senior administration policymakers have anything in mind beyond pleasing Trump and sticking it to the liberals. We see this lack of foresight again and again. Their horizon is two weeks - maybe.
This makes it extremely hard to do anything like what we once thought was analysis, which is the point of the quoted tweet. I'm not criticizing that tweet. In fact, I think it's a very good point.
Also, we need to stay in practice and to prepare for when we retake the government. "We" being people who actually want to run the government.
It's a tension that drives me crazy. But I'm one of those liberals, so it's a success in their book.
