Georgia's Secretary of State Brian Kemp (now running for Gov) has purged voter rolls & is now freezing tens thousands of voter registration forms through "exact match" tests. 70% of the frozen registrations are from black applicants, the AP reports. wabe.org/voting-rights-…
The number of voter registration applications that Brian Kemp's office has frozen equals roughly 2% of the total number of votes cast in the 2014 gubernatorial election. Polls show a *very* tight election this year.
Many people are commenting on this @AP story to say that Brian Kemp is picking who gets to vote in his next election. The same dynamic is happening in Florida:

As you can see on this map, nearly all Wisconsin counties have had **at most** 1 contested election for prosecutor out of the past 3 election cycles. (And this includes primaries as well as general elections.) appealpolitics.org/2018/will-anyo…
And this isn’t a pattern that primarily concerns small counties: in Wisconsin’s 10 most populous counties over the past three cycles (so a total of 30 elections), there were just four instances where the winner faced even a single opponent.

Media should revise how it reports results. Saying "100% in" in CA & AZ because 100% of precincts report that small fraction of votes they plan to report on election night, when it's is known & reported that millions remain, is misleading & it enables some ppl to further mislead.
For instance: CA counties are transparent about just what ballots remain. So while the count is slow, you could integrate figures in presentation of results. The NYT says "100% reporting," when as shown here you can quickly log into Orange County's website & see ballots left:
Also, we've literally been going through this multiple times a year every other year for a while now, so I'm not sure why the "100%" is still a thing at this point.

Let's talk about voter suppression, how you can protect your rights in this election, and how we can fight to make America a place where every citizen can make their voice heard.
First, some history. The 2013 Supreme Court case Shelby v. Holder gutted the 1965 Voting Rights Act by ruling that states with a history of voter suppression no longer needed the federal government to approve changes to voting rules.
Fast-forward a few years: 24 states have put new voting restrictions in place since 2010, including photo ID rules in Alabama, "use it or lose it" laws in Ohio, and "exact match" laws in Georgia.
