I love @HillaryClinton but she is absolutely wrong about the power imbalance between the President and an intern 20+ years his junior.
Even in the case of a consensual relationship between two adults. The workplace power imbalance is impossible to discount.
And by the way, the gross imbalance of power was borne out in how wildly different the consequences for both parties were.
Look no further than @MonicaLewinsky's Twitter reclamation of her bullying. Everyone sided with power, against her. The STATE bullied her.
Abuse of power is how so many of these fuckers are enabled and tacitly condoned. Look at how Moonves operated, for years and years.
I also think these questions are posed to Hillary Clinton far more often than to Bill Clinton. Why is more expected of her than him?
The Bill Clinton scandal was about power the whole way through, even (and especially) by giving it @MonicaLewinsky's name. Power. He had it.
And still has it, which is why people are looking to his wife for accountability rather than him.
Hillary is a public figure, a leader. She ran for President. She should be held accountable for her actions and statements.
(AS ALL PRESIDENTS SHOULD BE, ESPECIALLY CURRENT PRESIDENTS.)
But let's not pretend that Hillary is being held to a higher standard than Bill here.
Anyhow, as I've said many times, @MonicaLewinsky is amazing, an essential voice in these times, and generous AF. We are lucky to have her.
