EU Brexit backstop plan 'remains unacceptable' ... can I assume any extension of the transition will be coupled with a withdrawal agreement confirmation of UK payment to the EC despite the lack of a FTA i.e. "open your wallet, we will help ourselves" - theguardian.com/politics/2018/…
I do hope either UK Gov has been seriously investing in / planning for a no deal WTO scenario or preferably an EEA type play or this is just careful stage management because it does look like that the EC views that the UK is bluffing and is willing to push the issue.
Anyway, these negotiations were always going to be a tough round of theatre and positioning, a constant yo-yo between no deal and maybe deal, of threats and warnings. The pressure for those involved, including May, must be immense.
