This Trump lie is quite something. The president is now inventing nonexistent domestic riots.
And the “rioters,” in this fictional Trump story, are people who stand with him on the issue, not leftists or illegal immigrants or Soros employees or something. It is weird.
California Gov. Jerry Brown spokesman Evan Westrup on Trump inventing California riots: “Trump and truth have long had a troubled relationship. These comments, frankly, don’t merit a response.”
I asked Troy Edgar, mayor of Los Alamitos and opponent of sanctuary laws, whether he knows of any evidence for Trump's claim of "rioting" by California residents on their side. He said "Trump is correct" -- defining "rioting" as, basically, active and passionate opposition.
