1. I know I've failed to committ seriously in Storial's WriteTheFest last September, so I'd be striving more this November no matter what. I'll make myself be counted in #nanowrimo2018 💪🏻
2. Want Twitter header like the one that I am using? You can pick up Twitter header, FB header, and profile pic to immerse yourself into #nanowrimo2018 spirit here: nanowrimo.org/spread-the-word
2B. For some reasons, I'm not changing my profile picture. Only my Twitter header. Okay let's continue.
3. Flashback: I heard Nanowrimo for the first time in '16. By that time, I was managing everything (about fiction writing) in a very wrong way so that I had run out of gasoline by November 1. I skipped, and tried Nano for the 1st time in '17.
4. Storial was commencing Nano-like competition named BNNS (Storial Novel Writing Month) by '17 and I thought it should be a good start for a newbie like me.
I won by Sunday the 19th, hitting 52k words after a 4k-something amok in just several hours. 😂
5. By 28th (my final day of writing), I hit 77k something. The word count stayed around that number until 30th.
My 2017 Nano-novel Conundrum Apropos won Silver (2nd place) in BNNS. I haven't done any rewriting until today (what a lazy creature I am).
6. #Nanowrimo is a project that you can do anywhere (at home/local write in), anytime (you can write every day or only in weekends), with any apps (Word/Pages/Scrivener/even Notes), and for sure, it's free of charge.
7. The hurdles are (possibly):
a. November is when rainy season usually starts (it's easy for you to get sleepy or be lazy).
b. November is a busy month in almost every office (you know why).
c. November is the month when FANTASTIC movies burst out in local theatre, in string.
8. If you Indonesian fellow writers would like to join and do #Nanowrimo2018 and still confused about what-is-nano-and-what-am-I-doing, you can ask Indonesian Municipal Liaison (or ID's ML) @Eve_Shi and her co-ML @rasyaswarnasta. I'm sure they'd be glad to guide you.
9. Don't get it wrong: #Nanowrimo can be a good start or important checkpoint in your writing career.
Real examples:
@ClaireClaire05 (Rainbirds was her Nano'13 novel),
@alandakariza (Sophismata was her Nano'16 novel),
or @Eve_Shi herself (Rahasia Sarah was her Nano'17 novel).
10. In this year #nanowrimo I'm "going home" to Mystery, the genre I wrote when I began writing fiction (seriously) in circa 2015-2016.
The title is "Berikan Tanda Silang", and the story is circling around a mysterious crosswords puzzle.
What a 2016 me.
11. Don't forget to join the crowd in nanowrimo.org. Register there and you will find a lot of stuffs to see, to input, and to talk about! You can find me under profile "triskaidekaman" there, or add me as your writing buddy if you'd like to.
12. Today is only 10 days apart of 1 November. You can start planning everything since today.
But remember: don't abandon important things. But (again), wherever there is a will, there is always a way.
13-END. Don't forget: if you win by 19th-30th, you'll get a lot of voucher codes, you'll get banner, you'll get profile pic file, and of course: you'll be awarded an e-certificate with your name and your novel title put on it.
Let's go and have a wild fun!
