God, I know we're talking about conservative mindsets here, but this statement reminds me so much of what people used to say when they learned about my aspirations to work in comics.
99% of people were like "Ha ha neat,"or just generally pleasant about it, but every once in a blue moon you'd run into That Weirdo who would decide it's time for an impromptu lecture on tempering expectations/the inevitability of my failure.
"Wellllll that's a fun idea, real cute, but you'll see, you'll come back down to Earth, life'll hit you like a Mac truck, you'll grow up and find a real job and put away childish things and blah blah blah blah blah" Like, HOLY SHIT.

Who hurt you, dude? What happened?
Sincerely sorry whatever it was you wanted so badly once upon a time didn't work out for you specifically, but that doesn't mean shit about what life has in store for me, okay? Cuz yikes.
I just wanna make some funnybooks, it's not like I told you I plan on being the first chiropractor to toboggan on Jupiter.
