The "found near" in this headline doesn't capture the gist of the story. Someone left a bomb in Soros's mail at his house, packaged in such a way that one of his staffers took it inside and opened it.. nytimes.com/2018/10/22/nyr…
It's not clear from the story whether the bomb was left at the mailbox or mailed to Soros. Also unclear whether it malfunctioned or was intentionally left unarmed in some way.
Presumably we'll know more tomorrow, but it looks at least plausible that this was a serious assassination attempt against George Soros.
Man, a lot of people in the mood to get blocked for bringing me some half-assed bullshit tonight.
I can only block you once, people. If you're going to bring the bullshit, bring it with your whole ass.
Oh, and get better conspiracy theories. George Soros was a child during the Second World War. He was fourteen when the war ended. He wasn't a Nazi, he was a little kid. A Jewish kid hiding from the Nazis.
"We were pursued by evil forces and we were clearly on the side of the angels because we were unjustly persecuted; moreover, we were trying not only to save ourselves but also to save others." —George Soros on his childhood as a Jew under Nazi occupation.
Morning update: No new info yet, but sometime after midnight the NYT changed the headline from "found near" Soros' home to "found in mailbox" "at" his house.
And since people keep bringing up the 60 Minutes interview, here's what Soros actually says in it about the one incident in which he, at 13, witnessed Nazi confiscation of property: "I was only a spectator. I had no role in taking away that property. So I had no sense of guilt.“
More on the Soros incident: Law enforcement source tells newspaper that it was a real bomb, not a "hoax device." They're still not sure whether it was sent through the mail. independent.co.uk/news/world/ame…
A commenter, since blocked: "Only an idiot would see a bomb in a box and move it to another location."

There's a word for someone who discovers a bomb inside a home and moves it away from where it can harm other people before calling the cops. It's not "idiot."
More Soros details from the NYT: It was a pipe bomb, probably delivered by hand. Caretaker got suspicious, left it in the woods without bringing it inside. nytimes.com/2018/10/23/nyr…
Unclear from new Times story whether the caretaker actually opened the package, or just got suspicious based on visual examination and left it. If the latter, could explain why it didn't explode.
