Led by NV AG Adam Laxalt, 25 states brought a suit attacking overtime pay for workers. The Trump administration responded by abandoning the rule. In the states that brought the suit, that means more than 5 million workers will lose more than $560 million in wages each year. /2 
Led by TX AG Ken Paxton and WI AG Brad Schimel, 20 states want to overturn the ACA, including pre-ex protections. The Trump administration joined their effort to get rid of those protections. In those 20 states, there are more than 50 million people with pre-ex conditions. /3
Led by MI AG Bill Schuette, 15 states are seeking to overturn a rule that limits toxic mercury emissions. Trump is now working to undermine the rule. In those states, the rule prevents more than 4,000 deaths and provides more than $34 billion in health benefits each year. /4
So state officials use state $ to bring suits that will harm state residents. Whether they're seeking to advance their political careers, score ideological points, or help their friends and donors, one thing is clear: these lawsuits aren't intended to help people in their state.
