What's the #MarginalSyllabus? Since 2016, this project has convened and sustained convos with educators about equity in education through open & collaborative web annotation. You can learn more about the Marginal Syllabus, previous syllabi & research at /2
And what's "marginal" about the #MarginalSyllabus? We partner with authors whose writing is contrary to dominant education norms, we read & annotate in the margins of online texts, and we discuss educational equity using open-source tech that's marginal to commercial edtech /3
The 2016-17 #MarginalSyllabus featured texts and convos about the intersection of equity & edtech, or "techquity"… Last year's syllabus explored the theme "Writing our Civic Futures"… And this year... /4
The 2018-19 #MarginalSyllabus is hosted by @writingproject's @innovates_ed & features 8 texts from 5 different @ncte publications! Our theme is "Literacy, Equity + Remarkable Notes = LEARN" & all year we'll discuss the intersection of literacy & equity… /5
We are very thankful to the 19 (!) partner authors who agreed to have their scholarship openly annotated during the 2018-19 #MarginalSyllabus so that educators can read consequential lit and participate in needed convos about ed equity topics. Our calendar & partner authors... /6
