7/Last night Trump described the targets of the pipe bomb campaign as "former elected officials," which is not true and an obvious attempt to downplay the significance of the incident, giving a form of cover to the person who carried this out. It was beyond reckless, dangerous.
8/My point - right wing extremist violence is on the rise in America, and it is being directly aided & abetted by the Trump Admin and Republican Party organizations. There is no both sides on this one. GOP playing w/fire here, and when it burns cannot blame others for the damage.

10/Whole "violence" discussion reinforces fundamental asymmetry of GOP and Dems now. Rs have become a radical, ideologically driven party, Dems remain a pragmatic, practical one. Threat of RW violence is real, growing, dangerous. No center-left equivalent.

1/Case for Trump's removal I think has to revolve around his unwillingness to adhere to the laws, norms and restraints required to make a democracy work. He is far more a tyrant than a President; his actions are a threat to our whole system; he's blown it, and cannot remain.
2/If it comes to impeachment, list of offenses will be long and extraordinary: self-enrichment, corruption, mismanagement, failure to protect the nation fr foreign threats, encouragement of political violence, obstruction, attacks on public figures, election cheating, lying....
3/Feel like the burden has shifted in recent weeks from those who believe the President must go to those who want him to remain. Why should he stay? Not overturning an election - Pence takes over. Not a king, no right to the Oval Office. Nation has turned on him/unpopular.

Thought exercise - burden now on GOP to make the case for why Trump, not Pence. Removing Trump doesn't overturn an election, GOP still in charge. Removal of a President is a Constitutional act, like an election; so removing a corrupt President is expected, not extraordinary.
2/My point - the case for removing Trump is very strong (corruption, lying, refusal to listen to intel community, craziness/unpredictability, legal challenges, lack of respect for dem norms) and the case for keeping him is very weak or even non-existent.
3/Our President is not a king. Trump has no right to hold the office. Our Founding Fathers expected the President to be held to a higher standard, not a lower one. Debasement of the office - and more broadly democracy - was a "high crime" and clear grounds for removal.

1/Want to drill down on one of the more dangerous parts of this whole disgraceful #TrumpRussia episode - the suppression of any kind of a whole of government response to what should be rightly considered an act of war against the United States by Russia in 2016.
2/We may not yet have the vocabulary or laws to describe, discuss or deal w/the new kind of warfare Russia used against the US in 2016. But that kind of 21st century war, what many in Europe call "hybrid war," is here. And Mueller's report describes its manifestation in detail.
3/What Mueller also describes is Trump's years long effort to obstruct any reasonable investigation into Russia's attack on the US; our President has even said, standing next to Putin, the man who ordered the attack, the attack never happened. cnn.com/2018/07/16/pol…

First, the Northam yearbook photo that came out last week. Lots of speculation that this was either (a) a hit job by right-wing media, or (b) a set-up from an enemy (LG Fairfax or AG Herring) who wanted Northam out. 2/
The "right-wing hit job" idea is only half true. Northam's yearbook picture was first published by right-wing media site with ties to Roy Moore (as @SarahKing__ reported). Sure, this site has an interest in taking out Dem politicians. 3/

1. For your Extremist #FridayFlashback, I'd like to share a totally-forgotten incident from September 1999 involving a militia shootout in West Virginia--one of uncounted such episodes involving right-wing extremism over the past 25 years that got very little media attention.
2. A team of fed/state/law enforcement officers were looking for illicit marijuana grows in Lincoln County, West Virginia, when they ran into two brothers who were indeed growing pot out in the woods--but who were also anti-government extremists, part of the militia movement.
3. Investigating an illegal camp on gas company property, the officers ran into Bobby Wayne Hager riding an ATF. Hager tried to pull a gun on the officers but they restrained him--but not before he shouted a warning to his nearby brother. The brother, Everett Hager, opened fire
