A Thread on How To Ethically Persuade Anyone To Do Anything:

So first off, what is sales? Sales is simply the transfer of emotion to motivate someone to take a specific action. Most think of it in terms of money, but it can be anything
Let's say you want your girlfriend to start cooking for you. If you straight up tell her to start cooking, it creates friction.

She's going to put up her guard. "Why should I cook for you? What's in it for me?" These are common "objections."

Instead, you want to plant a seed
Innocently bring up a story about a friend whose GF cooks for him.

"You know, Mike, is so lucky. His gf cooks for him every night. They must have a strong relationship."

Change the subject. Move on.

Now she's not so confrontational. In fact, she's probably a little anxious...
Her brain is going crazy. "Is he mad I don't cook? Is he going to leave me for a girl that does?, etc"

A week later she has an idea. She wants to cook tonight.

No "selling." You planted the idea and brain took care of the rest.

So how can you use this for your Shopify store?
Let's say you sell a skincare product. Most will write up some benefits on an ad. Boring

Go a step further. Find a scientific study that validates common beliefs that aren't consciously thought of alot

For example, just found this study on the US National Library of Medicine:
People with clear skin are viewed as happier, healthier, more confident, more successful, better at public speaking, and even better at sex

People with acne are perceived as more shy & insecure

Don't sell the benefit (clear skin). You want to sell the benefits of the benefit
Now your customer is thinking, "Fuck, sometimes my skin breaks out. Do others think I'm shy and insecure? Do they think I'm less successful & less confident because of my skin? I NEED this product now"

This can take a 1% conversion rate to 4%. That's 4 times more profit for you

Both had very underrated tweets earlier on the importance of connecting with your customers on an emotional level and how it gives your customers no choice but to buy from you
