Forget Uber for a minute, the average Nigerian man, including educated folks are rude to women. A lot of men see women as inferior and lesser beings who must not open their mouth or challenge them on any issue.
What we need is cultural change. A drastic one. All that "I have your type at home" "who are you to say this and that" and "go and bring a man before you bail a suspect" needs to go. Because in MANY stations, a woman cannot still bail suspects in Nigeria.
Some men are also not comfortable having female bosses. They just don't like taking orders from women. Some will deliberately undermine or disrespect their female bosses. It is a deeply flawed cultural attitude, and it has to go.
Some men will be quick to get angry at a woman and throw slaps. When a fellow man says the same thing, they're not a angry because they know if they throw a slap they might get what they're looking for.
"Why are you driving like a woman?" Rude
"You're so weak. Why are you crying like a woman?" Rude
"You're just a pussy, behaving like a woman." Rude
I've had female friends come to me crying "Dipo they don't respect me, Dipo I have to chase them around to do stuff." I always tell them to throw one or two people under the bus. If they crash, burn and lose their job, good luck. Because you have to stand your ground sometimes.
Never let anyone undermine or disrespect you because of your gender. Stand your ground. Don't be a pushover or a doormat.
A lot of our parents could have raised better men. It's now on us to raise our boys to a higher standard, I mean, the same standard we expect of our women.

We need to raise everyone to respect other people irrespective of gender. And no gender is more important than the other.
