1. A short thread about the greatest political tactician of our time.
2. Ronald Wilson Reagan. Not who you expected? Read on.
3. Reagan was a student of history, in particular The Founding. He was especially enamored with The Founding Fathers themselves.
4. We used to be taught that these were great men, but the Left has, as all communists do, attempted to re-write history. Some of The Founders were slave owners, so therefore, Leftist logic dictates, the country they created is flawed, unfair and basically evil.
5. Reagan knew better. The overwhelming majority of the Founders/Framers abhorred slavery. They sacrificed their lives, their fortunes and their sacred honor to forge a new country, one that, by its very nature, its core principles, would inevitably end slavery.
6. Reagan also studied the great generals, and he learned from them the very principle that ALL great men of war, including the Founders, knew: sometimes you must lose the battle to win the war, but, in losing, one can plant the seeds of later victory.
7. Examples abound in history: we lost the first Battle of the Bulge, but laid the groundwork for winning the second. Washington learned more from the many defeats he suffered at the start of the Revolution than he ever learned from battles won during the French and Indian War.
8. After narrowly escaping the Philippines, MacArthur vowed "I shall return", and kicked major ass when he did. Lincoln's failures to defeat Lee inevitably led to the elevation of Grant. I could go on forever.
9. To forge a nation where ALL men were FREE, The Founders FIRST had to defeat the greatest army on Earth. They hated slavery but needed to unify the colonies FIRST. They probably KNEW they would not be able to end slavery in their lifetimes, but laid the groundwork for it.
10. They lost that battle, but, in forming a nation built on the principle of God-given freedom, passed the baton to a future generation to win the WAR.
11. Lincoln freed the slaves but guess to whom Lincoln attributed the end of slavery? THE FOUNDERS. He rightfully observed that The Constitution they created made the defeat of slavery INEVITIBLE. They lost that battle in their lifetimes, but left the BLUEPRINT to win the WAR.
12. So what does this all have to do with Reagan, you ask? Read on.
13. Reagan was the progenitor to Trump. Just as Trump had been rich, but NEVER accepted by high society, Reagan had been an actor&governor, but was NOT accepted by The Swamp. He recognized& wanted to solve the USA's issues.
14. Listen to this Reagan speech from 1964.

Close your eyes and hear Trump in 2016.
15. Reagan was such an outsider, such an opponent of The Swamp, that he challenged a sitting POTUS in 1976, almost defeating Gerald Ford, forever angering the Republican Party, who felt he weakened the President, leading to Jimmy Carter winning the election.
16. Reagan tried again in 1980, defeating the Swamps' chosen candidate, George H.W. Bush, to capture the nomination, just as Trump would defeat ANOTHER Bush to become the 2016 nominee.
17. Reagan chose Bush to be his VP, obstensively to unite the Republican Party which he had helped split into two warring factions back in 1976. That's the common belief. It's also wrong. Remember, Reagan was a student of history and a brilliant tactician.
18. He faced a press and entertainment industry that was about as openly hostile to him as was considered acceptable those days of better decorum. He had no twitter or social media to skirt around them, so he played them like a fiddle.
19. Selecting Bush was part of his strategy. It quieted the RINOs and made the press, who tried to paint Reagan as a maniac who would start WW3(sound familiar?), praise the choice of a "statesman" like Bush to temper his impulses. But what was the REAL REASON he took Bush?
20. If he had any illusions about being able to totally drain the Swamp back then, those thoughts came crashing down to Earth when Reagan was almost assassinated by John Hinckley, a man whose family had many connections to D.C. Insiders.
21. No, Reagan KNEW the plan The Swamp had to destroy America from INSIDE. He knew he was surrounded by Swamp creatures, even his own VP(ESPECIALLY his own VP). He knew they would(and did) work to undermine everything he did.
22. He cut taxes and the economy BOOMED. The Swamp took in huge tax revenues from all the new TAXPAYERS, and spent it twice as fast. He attempted peace through strength with Russia and people like Ted Kennedy tried to undermine him, telling Russia to "wait Reagan out".
23. Reagan's greatest insight was that we were not READY to believe people in our own government were intentionally destroying the USA from within. So what he decided to do is plant the seeds of the Swamp's inevitable destruction, just as the Founders had done to slavery.
24. He took Bush to let the Swamp think they had him under control, or at least under surveillance . Then, he built a boom economy, the effects of which were felt until the 2008 collapse. He restored American pride, which had suffered after Watergate & Carter's disasterous term.
25. He showed us that America COULD be great again, and staved off the Swamp's plan to end America until a future POTUS could grab the baton and SAVE our Republic. He lost the battle but planted the seeds to win the war. Just like the founders did for Lincoln.
26. Upon meeting a dashing young businessman, Reagan said to an aide, "When I shook that man's hand, I felt as if I were the one meeting the President, and not the other way around." You know who the businessman was?
27. This guy.
28. Regan lost the war, but sowed the seeds of victory, laying the groundwork for a man like @POTUS to come along and finish the job. Just like a great tactician would. RIP Ronnie, the American people now see what you saw, and we have our Lincoln to your Founding Fathers.
29. Victory!
END.
