More lessons from the hospital. In the last chapter we discussed the inability of a self-described, "award winning"and "world famous" hospital to deliver the standard of care that you might expect for $250-300K, despite having a caring staff. Now, let's go to politics. THREAD
We are two families to a room. Our family is a CNN/MSNBC bunch of liberal-leftists. My wife and her sister have fathers, different ones, who were Communists. But I digress.
The family across the curtain is a Fox News family, Trump fans from Queens. Solid citizens, whose matriarch has had her head sliced open for some reason. I hope it isn't glioblastoma, which seems to be uniformly fatal. But again - I digress.
Our gang had the sound off; their gang had the sound *on* -- so we had the unusual experience of watching @cnn and @msnbc chyrons, while listening to the blonde bubbleheads who deliver the news on @FoxNews. So far, interesting, right?
Today, I was the only one of our group present, sitting with our person, but the @FoxNews gang was all present. And their matriarch says:

"What happened this week when I was out of it?"
And a woman says: "Trump fired Jeff Sessions!"
The matriarch says: "I really liked Jeff Sessions -- why did Trump fire him?" (Remember -- these are people who are YUGE Trump supporters. And the other woman says:
"I don't know."
And I was like, wut?
I am thinking: "What do you mean YOU DON'T KNOW -- you have had @FoxNews on since at least Monday, and you clearly watch it ALL THE TIME because you know the names of all the bubbleheads.

So I say, leaning around the curtain, "Excuse me, I hate to interrupt...."
"...but," I say, "@realDonaldTrump fired Jeff Sessions because he recused himself from the Russia investigation," thinking to myself: how is it you do not know this?

And the guys says: "But why now?"
And I say: "The elections. Trump's base likes Sessions because he is tough on immigration, and supports the end of civil rights protections and affirmative action. He didn't want to alienate his own voters before the election."

Then the lady with her head sliced open says:
"Who is going to be the next attorney general?" and her friends say:

"CHRIS CHRISTIE! DEFINITELY THE MOST QUALIFIED AFTER JEFF SESSIONS!"

And I know there have been Christie rumours =going around, but ya know, Christie=Charlie Brown; Trump=Lucy; the AG job is the football.
So I say: "No, I don't think so." And they are crushed and want to know why, and I said: "Jared." And they were like, wtf does Jared have to do with anything? And I said:
"Because Chris Christie put Jared's father in jail, and Jared hates him and will do anything to f*ck him over, including leaking rumors that Christie will be picked and then not pick him and humiliate him all over again.
They had no problem believing that Jared was like that. None whatsoever.

And the guy says, "Someone better tell Christie to beware of Greeks bearing gifts."

I said, That's for sure. BUT WHY AM I TELLING YOU THIS, YOU ASK?
Because this family of Trump supporters watches @FoxNews all the time and does not even know the basic elements of the Trump story. We usually think . of @FoxNews as a propaganda machine, lying sacks of sh*t and what have you.
But it occurred to me for the first time that by spewing all these bizarre conspiracies, cr^pping all over @TheDemocrats, railing about White House interns who were touched accidentally by @JimAcosta and so on, what they succeed in teaching their audience is:
ABSOLUTELY NOTHING. Maybe all this fake news & hysteria & blonde dye jobs is aimed at preventing Trump supporters from learning anything about anything, much less Trump.
And while I think there is a little more real information on @MSNBC, and lots to learn on @maddow if you are still awake between 9 and 10 pm EST, it too is mostly rumination, in which the hosts and guests say the same thing repeatedly in 30,000 different ways.
