As climate change progresses, we see the continued stress on trees & a proliferation of pine beetles, resulting in sudden death of trees. I don’t live next to nat’l or state forest. All around me are privately owned lots. I’m on an acre, so are my neighbors on each side. #CA01
The guy behind us is on 5 acres. It’s thickly wooded. My next door neighbor on 1 acre had about 3 or 4 (maybe more) trees suddenly die. She cut them down. Over 6 years, we’ve cut down 7. There are dead trees across fwy from me. I’ll bet there are some on the 5 acres behind me.
I drive a couple of miles to local grocery store, passing homes of various lot sizes. Wooded. Dead trees here & there. Not cut down yet. It’s expensive! Really expensive! We’ve spent about $4k removing trees. My lot is sparsely treed. Others are pretty thick. #CA01
Trees can die in the blink of an eye. It takes a few months to save up to remove in some cases. I’ll bet plenty can never scrape up that $2k it takes to remove a full grown pine. Our politicians don’t even consider this. As you drive into populated areas, it’s private property.
It would be nice if there were some grants to help with removal of trees in residential rural areas. Sure, you can cite personal responsibility, but these trees die unexpectedly & FAST. Your tree looks fine one week, the next it’s dead & brown. Hard to plan. #CA01
Sorry for length but I’ll bet plenty in #CA01 have experienced this. Our state & national reps, like @RepLaMalfa @BrianDahleCA @J_GallagherAD3, like to complain & place blame but never really help. How about some grants to help w/ tree removal, help create the defensible spaces?
Our reps eagerly hand billions to those who don’t need it but can’t give a little bit of help to #CA01 constituents who just need to remove a 100-ft matchstick out of their front yard. The town of Paradise wasn’t a national forest. We’re not swimming in $$. A little help here?
