You have the right to life, liberty, & the pursuit of happiness. How you get there is up to you, but it is not a right for you to have health care or any material thing. You aren't going to lessen the costs of insurance without addressing the 40,000 physician shortage in the US.
A $10K operation still costs $10K. Insurance still rose far faster than inflation even with the ACA. The best you get from insurance reform is a short term dip in costs until more people start demanding the $10K operation, then it goes up to $11K or more due to demand.
Health care is not like manufactured devices where they get cheaper over time or due to increased productivity or other factors. There's only so many doctors and as demand for them increases prices for their services go up because of that increased demand.
