Afrobeats is huge. I agree. But its much smaller in $ than it should be. Where is the M&A to support this mega industry emergence? Every niche to major music industry created was followed by intense M&A. Motown. Geffen. DeafJam. Interscope. Virgin and many others. Afrobeats?😑
I believe if Nigeria wasn't so lawless there would have been easily several >$20m acquisitions of independents Easily. Its not even my business 🤔 but I still earned an opinion having lost $2m with iroking. There are so many lessons to learn. I'm going to try to share them.
Nigeria remains lawless. It comes at a cost. Potential is lost. Things are smaller than they should be. Technology & Entertainment is our opportunity to try with young leadership. Lets see how this pans out. Oh and @MTNza just acquired a local music streaming site @simfyafrica

Oh and even though Taylor Swift just left her label to Universal Music. Big Machine still owns all her copyrights. Universal is in talks to buy, the independent label who discovered her at 14, for ~$300m. This is what happens when you have laws. ft.com/content/014d8f… 
The biggest artist in the world full stop. Respected the laws and the deal which was signed for her at 14. Think about that for a minute. Then go back to whatever you were doing before. Blog post loadings.
