To clarify, the movie 'Swings' was produced by a Ghanaian producer DEO Studio / Daniel Edah Production. The film was set in Ghana with an all Ghanaian cast. Neither ROK Studios nor @irokotv were a part of the actual production of the movie 'Swings', and we never saw a script.
We acquired a finished product after DEO studio / Daniel Edah Production contacted us. There is no mention of IROKOtv, ROK or the Njoku's anywhere in or around the film. Additionally, no @irokotv employee was mentioned or had anything to do with the movie's creation.
Tomi Adesina's legal team alerted @irokotv to this specific incident two weeks ago and we promptly addressed the issue with Tomi Adesina's legal team within days; we also received acknowledgment from her lawyers that she had received a response from our team.
In parallel we spoke to the Producer and production team who reasserted their rights to the movie 'Swings'. As the letter above states we directed the legal team to deal directly with actual producing studio. This is industry practice globally.
Unfortunately 'chain of title' is almost impossible to ascertain in Nigeria so copyright claims are usually settled between individuals. @irokotv has been acquiring tens of thousands of movies from hundreds of producers over the last 8 years so have a clear policy / view on this
To clarify, and in no uncertain terms, ROK did not produce the movie. Twitter is not the forum for such discussions, nevertheless, we are happy to continue this conversation offline with @tomi_adesina We remain committed to fighting piracy and wholly refute any claims otherwise.
