11/20/48 from 8 to 9 pm on WATV. Long-gone Poverty Row studio Invincible Pictures was responsible for 1936 crime drama that made NY (and probably world) TV debut 7/10/41 on WNBT. More recently, it played 6/8/47 on WCBS.
11/20/53 at 11:30 pm on WCBS' "Late Show.'' Same year (1946) she played this lady PI for future "Adventures of Superman'' TV director Carr, ubiquitous Republic contract player Bachelor married a businessman later linked by Senate investigators to Bugsy Siegel.
11/20/58 at 1 pm on WNTA. Lang's 1944 noir classic sponsored by International Pictures, which merged with Universal though their films (originally released to theaters through RKO) have been with UA, and then MGM, for years. This one debuted on WOR's "Million Dollar Movie.''
11/20/63 at 11 am on WPIX. RKO held onto TV rights for very few of the many independent productions it released or even co-produced. James Whale shot a third segment based on Saroyan story for 1952 literary omnibus (originally conceived for TV) that was not used.
11/20/68 at 12:30 pm on WOR. Ginger plays a serial runaway bride in 1947 comedy from her dream/psychiatry cycle with echoes of CAREREE, TOM DICK AND HARRY and LADY IN THE DARK. Plus a bit of Native American fetishism anticipating Hawks' MONKEY BUSINESS.
11/20/73 at 11 am on WPIX. Hepburn makes like Earhardt in Arzner's 1933 classy soaper, sacrificing herself and Clive's unborn child for the benefit of his wife Burke, who incidentally played Hepburn's mother a year earlier before devoting herself to lighter fare.
11/20/78 at 12:30 am on WNEW. I wonder how many people are even aware Jones' novel was filmed by Andrew Morton 34 years before Terrence Malick got around to it. Apparently never available on packaged media, it's streaming @amazonprimenow.
11/20/83 at 7 pm on WNJM. It's New Jersey Public Television to the rescue during a classic-film drought, offering a starry 1943 Universal flag-waver with appearances by Fields, Welles and Dietrich. NY TV debut 9/17/62 on "Million Dollar Movie'' but long out of circulation
11/20/88 at 2 am on "TNT Overnight.'' Dad Smith's moustachioed stiff upper lip is sorely tested by Howard's bout of tropical fever in 1931 antique based on a Peter B. Kyne novel that was previously filmed in 1925. MGM kept Howard busy working on two other films at the same time.
11/20/93 at 1:30 am on WLIW. Excluded from pre-1948 sale to MCA, 1946 noir was fourth-oldest film distributed to TV directly by Paramount in the mid-1960s, after THE BUCCANEER (1938), MIRACLE OF MORGAN'S CREEK and YOU CAME ALONG. Alas, the copyright lapsed in 1974.
11/20/98 at 1:30 pm on TCM. NY TV debut 6/29/62 on WCBS' "The Late Show.'' After completing its Channel 2 run in 1966, starry WB musical from 1944 never seems to have made the leap to another station, unlike the frequently-shown THANK YOUR LUCKY STARS. Music rights issues?
