Well yeah, obviously. The con pays for the guests out of their coffers.

But there are a lot of moving parts, here. I think anyone simplifying matters down to "The Con paid for The Guest's airfare and that's why I'm not breaking even" isn't being realistic.
How good a fit is your work for the con you're at? What con are you doing? What are you selling? (Keychains and minis ain't gonna make you much, get a book on your table, folks!) How long have you been making comics? How well do you promote yourself?
Again, I've been there. I've grossed $200 at a table over a weekend. It's something I'd bet most Guests have gone through. It's not the con's fault, it's the nature of being an unestablished creator.
