As anyone who was a Référendaire at the @EUCourtPress I feel sad I could not be at today’s hearing. But let’s step back for a second and look at what today’s event says about what has happened in recent months (thread)
A good number of months back one of my first twitter discussions was with a journalist who called the Court “obscure”. Part of it was the Court’s old website. What happened today?
A number of excellent UK journalists were live-tweeting (I saw @adamfleming @MehreenKhn - any others?) Many more were commenting.
I read comments about the brilliance of Hubert Legal, the Council’s top lawyer (though, yes, even more about the perfect fit of his name) ...
... and if you have ever seen Koen Lenaerts speak (whether in Flemish, German, English, French or Spanish) you cannot but be impressed (yes, he also has two Harvard degrees, if I recall correctly).
How ironic that for many in the UK the first time they hear about the Court is in a proceeding about Art. 50.
