/ Just finished reviewing couple hundred comments from latest round of reviews of my Bldg a Second Brain book. Sobering to realize that the shift from "Capture, Organize, Share" to "Remember, Connect, Create" implies a fundamental restructuring of the book
/ The mapping of techniques has to change. PARA now comes first as it clearly corresponds to Remember. Prog Summarization comes second as it corresponds to Connect. And workflow strategies remain third as they correspond to Create
/ Also realizing that 3 stages not only describe the steps that each piece of info moves through, but the stages that a person moves through as they develop their second brain
/ At first, you save notes/files because you want to "remember everything." This inherently has value and many people may never go beyond this stage. Nor should they if they don't have a need to connect or create knowledge
/ But many ppl, as they collect more knowledge, inevitably begin to see connections and associations. They move on to Connect stage, gradually adding mechanisms and practices for association
/ And some of those people will move on to Create stage, as they start using their collected knowledge to produce new things. This requires additional infrastructure and new practices, and corresponding massively higher leverage
/ Point is, there is inherent value and rewards at each stage. One could spend years at each stage. Trying to launch a perfectly engineered system at Create stage is futile and counterproductive. Focus on mastering the one you're currently at first
