It’s not actually possible to implement it in a modern software company. to give you an idea of why it's not possible: say i manage a software developer making something that has encryption. the government can contact my developer...2/7 #auspol
...and tell him to build a backdoor into the software, and if he tells me about it, he faces jail time. but i track every minute of his work and every line of code that he writes, and if there’s anything unexpected in there it will cause tests in my software to fail.3/7 #auspol
And I might think it’s a Chinese hacker. so it's impossible for just one person to do this. I don't think they understand how technology development works. if they want to get votes they should be working to strengthen government encryption, not undermine it. 4/7 #auspol
