Today, I'm going to talk about the HIGH RANKING PROFESSIONS that are the most in demand today in Canada.
Before you finalize your decision to study in Canada please take time to read this (#THREAD).
Now, it is often said that no knowledge is a waste (which is true) but of what use is an acquired skill that can’t be practiced?
So today I'm going to share MY TOP 5 most sought-after professions in Canada!
a) Information Technology
b) Business Analysis
c) Power Engineering
d) Medicine
e) Civil engineering
a) IT is unarguably the most sought-after profession in Canada today. From web development to programming and machine learning the demand is huge and continuously growing
According to Indeed, vacancies for Cybersecurity analysts in Canada have increased by 73% in the past 3 years
Today in Ottawa, due to the huge focus in web development over the years there is now an acute shortage of SQL database professionals in the city; Same goes for C++, so think carefully while choosing your preferred programming language to specialize in.
(Avg salary: CAD70,000)
b) Business Analysis: global trade is continuously changing and the demand for analysts that can project future demand, conduct market analysis and reposition businesses for growth is in high demand in Toronto and Montreal.
Acquiring a CBAP certification is greatly advised in this profession. (Avg. Salary: CAD60,000)
c) Power engineering: power engineering is a skilled trade acquired through a 2 year diploma program from where you obtain a 4th Class power engr. license upon completion.
Power engineers work are the licensed personnel authorized to operate critical power plant components such as boilers, compressors and turbines etc. which can be found in power generation plants, refineries, oil rigs, breweries etc.
There's a current shortage of licensed power engineers all over North America, you might want to look into this field if it falls within your area of interest.
4) Medicine: Canada, unlike the States has a working health insurance plan for its citizens. The downside of a national health insurance program includes longer wait times, lower salary for healthcare practitioners amongst others.
The US is just nearby and so, most Canadian Doctors tend travel across the border where the pay is higher, leading to a shortage of medical practitioners in Canada. This then creates a high demand for doctors, nurses, therapists etc.
5) Civil Engineering: as long as there is a demand for infrastructure there will always remain a demand for civil engineers.
Extra: English and French are the official languages of Canada. Most businesses and federal govt organizations usually prefer a Bilinguals in the administrative and public relations departments. Vacancies for bilinguals are mostly common in New Brunswick, Ottawa and Montreal.
Finally, the Canadian job market is an experience based environment. You need at least one of these 3 to excel:
1) Experience
2) Certification
3) Referral
