Dear Nigerians, this is not Malaria or a sign of malaria

I know you had a fever, but it's not malaria

This is a cold sore caused by a variant of the herpes virus

It is usually spread through close contact. E.g kissing or sharing cosmetics or drinks

The second variant is the type 2, which usually affects the genitals.

It is also possible for the type 2 to cause sores on the mouth

If you have a cold sore, you'll most likely experience fever and joint aches this is what many people mistake for malaria.

There is no cure for it
You can only manage it or speed up healing
In most cases it goes on its own
Always see a doctor.

Avoid kissing anyone who has a cold sore or sharing their drink or spoons or even cosmetics

Don't perform oral sex on anyone who has genital herpes
Because it can't be cured, it lives in the nerves under your skin and can be reactivated when you fall ill or are under stress.

Hence the reason why people associate them with the common illness that plagues us: malaria.

Other triggers are: a weak immune system
Also don't give oral sex if you have cold sores
Here's a video I made earlier, about someone who kissed a baby with this sore and the baby died
