The WTO’s last dispute settlement body meeting of the year just wrapped up and - no surprise here - Members failed to confirm any new appointments to the @wto appellate body.

@wto The @wto agreed to launch a dispute inquiry into Qatar's claim that Saudi Arabia failed to crack down on pirated TV broadcasts.

Much like the U.S. steel cases -- Saudi Arabia has cited the @wto's Article 21 national-security exemption.

@wto China moved a step closer towards a formal WTO inquiry into whether @realDonaldTrump's $250 billion in tariffs against Chinese goods violate @wto rules.

Though the US blocked China's initial request for a panel the dispute will advance if China submits a second request in 2019.
@wto @realDonaldTrump The case cuts to the heart of the US-China trade conflict because the US claims the tariffs are necessary to counter an alleged Chinese campaign to steal American intellectual property and force technology transfers from US companies.
