The great Australian journalist @johnpilger:
"Julian is a touchstone for opposition to so much of what is going on in our world - the rise of fascism, the threat of nuclear war.
He needs popular support - people in the streets."
Suzie Dawson @Suzi3D
Suzie reads from the statement made by German members of parliament @HeikeHaensel & @SevimDagdelen on 20 Dec 2018.
Their statement (and the transcript of their live speeches) is here:

@raymcgovern and @JohnKiriakou
Ray: "How does one account for the new flexibility on the part of #Ecuador [re that visit ⬆️], and how can that be leveraged to host parliamentarians from France and Italy and elsewhere in the EU?
@raymcgovern and @JohnKiriakou
John: "It's good news, but now is the time to ramp up our action. We have to build on what the German parliamentarians did⬆️, and what the EU ones have written, and we need to push harder."
@raymcgovern and @JohnKiriakou with @unjoe
Joe: "There are other people outside the WhiteHouse that have a key interest in Julian Assange. Like the Justice Dept and the FBI.
But maybe Trump will stand up to the FBI or the CIA?"
@raymcgovern
"Pompeo said Julian is running a "non-state hostile intelligence service."
That's something for the Europeans to pick up on.
What the hell is a non-state hostile intelligence service?
Pompeo shld be called on that."
@raymcgovern
"Vault 7 did it - 31 March 2017.
13 days later Pompeo gets up at a think tank and says "Assange is a demon ... and he runs a non-state hostile intelligence service.
The Europeans could question him about that."
@raymcgovern
"I think the chances are 50:50 that Mueller, given his sordid past, will easily side with Brennan [...] & manufacture something to say that "aha, Julian Assange was actively soliciting this, so ... Espionage Act.
@raymcgovern @Suzi3D @unjoe @siguemecuador
Jose reads from the ruling released today on Julian's case in the Ecuador Appeals Court.
The appeal was rejected.
A further appeal will need to be to the new Constitutional Court.
@raymcgovern @siguemecuador
Ray: What if the European MPs went to Ecuador and talked with their opposite numbers there?
Jose: The problem is [we] are completely blocked by the media in Ecuador. His father might be a good idea.
@unjoe @siguemecuador
Joe: You put it very simply - it's a dictatorship. ...
Jose: Exactly. They are investigating 495 judges for having given judicial decisions they view as inclined to Correa's ideology ... It's judicial hell.
@raymcgovern @Suzi3D @unjoe @siguemecuador Simon Floth
Simon Floth points the panel to @MashiRafael's article of 16 Nov describing what the new Ecuador govt had done to the Constitutional Court.
counterpunch.org/2018/11/16/ecu…
Simon Floth points out that this ⬆️matter relates to Q3 of referendum held in Feb 2018 & notes that "an obscurely worded question" has been used to "eviscerate the whole of society, the institutions society is based on in Ecuador."
@raymcgovern @Suzi3D @unjoe @siguemecuador Simon Floth
Simon Floth then describes the plight of @JorgeGlas - Ecuador's elected Vice President - currently in jail - who has just ended a 52 day hunger strike.
counterpunch.org/2018/12/21/cru…
Simon Floth
"Despite the level of pressure, Moreno's government is just going all out to continue the persecution of anything to do with @MashiRafael's leadership.
And this is the crucial background . . . to the case of Assange"
Simon Floth
"We need to unite the figure of #JulianAssange and @JorgeGlas , because they're both being persecuted by what is essentially the fascist takeover of Ecuador.
It's not about a cat. It's a major geopolitical deterioration."
