Me : Oh, enlighten me.
X : Centrists want to split Labour. They're more concerned over Corbyn than May.
Me : Hmmm, so you're arguing that some of Labour don't want Corbyn to win regardless?
X : Yes.
X : You think centrists are concerned with the many? They're not. They are Conservatives but with a small 'c'.
Me : Corbyn is hardly a firebrand. His views are moderate.
X : They're still too left wing.
X : Yes
Me : What about the many?
X : No-one really gives a shit.
Me : Hmmm, I don't agree and I'm not alone.
Me : Go on ...
X : Everyone knows we're are remaining bar you and a few cross-eyed right wingers.
Me : How? Referendum or vote in parliament?
X : Doesn't matter. We can't afford to leave. UK Gov knows it, EU knows it, Everyone knows it.
X : That's the one bit you're right on, it's theatre. Everywhere else you're wrong.
Me : You mean my view is different from yours.
X : No, I mean you're wrong.
X : Labour needs a new leader and must support Remain.
Me : And that will help how?
X : It'll put Labour into power.
Me : As conservatives with a small "c"?
X : Socialism died long ago. You're living in the past.
X : It won't happen. If Labour doesn't reform then we will still Remain but the Conservatives will win.
Me : Surely centrists don't want that?
X : It's better than Corbyn.
X : He is a dinosaur, a throwback to the past. Keep on supporting him and you'll be wrong again.
Me : A risk I'm willing to take.
