This is a terrible, horrible, no good, very bad take. I'm not on team Beto, but he is NOT A REPUBLICAN. He voted with the Dems 92% of the time. I know editors and writers can't resist the clickbait headline, but come on now. This is just ludicrous. theweek.com/articles/81377…
Here is a far more nuanced and responsible assessment of Beto's voting record. We can fight about which candidate we think is best without using scorched earth tactics.
I wish there was a way to make political pundits in the Non-MAGA camp follow the 1st rule of improv--always start with a "yes and..." Yes, here are the policy positions of X candidate that I agree with, here are the things I want to hear more about, & here's what I dislike.
The 2020 election will not be about convincing Trump voters to defect...it'll be about turnout, about giving people who aren't super-politicized a reason to come out and vote. Nothing will suppress turnout more effectively than cynicism about the Dem primary process & candidate.
So, please, when we argue with each other about which of these candidates (all of whom will be 1000 X better than Trump) we support, we do not need to act like if our person is not chosen then we might as well have nominated Jeb Bush. This is not the time for such foolishness.
One last thought. Thanks to this ridiculous article and headline, I will now most likely NOT click through on any articles from @TheWeek. Any outlet that would run with something this ridiculous is simply, IMHO, not to be trusted.
