I guess I'll take the opportunity of this sleepy Xmas break Thursday afternoon to do a thread of the pieces I wrote this year that I'm most proud of.
First, a little cheat. @MosheMarvit & I landed an op-ed in the @nytimes a few days before New Years last year.

American Workers Need Better Job Protections nyti.ms/2EazsFE
.@MosheMarvit & I continued to write about just cause. Here, in @newlaborforum, we make an activist argument for a "right to your job."

newlaborforum.cuny.edu/2018/08/28/rig…
I also got into the Washington Post twice this year. First, I threatened hellfire and brimstone in the Janus case.

Perspective | If the Supreme Court rules against unions, conservatives won’t like what happens next wapo.st/2Fe0q2m?tid=ss…
Then @ErikLoomis and chided the Democrats for having no compelling message on trade & jobs.

Perspective | Trump is all bluster on trade, but Democrats haven’t shown voters they can do better wapo.st/2oXhobY?tid=ss…
Speaking of @ErikLoomis, I reviewed his excellent new book for the print edition of @inthesetimesmag

America’s Great Strike Waves Have Shaped the Country. We Can Unleash Another. inthesetimes.com/working/entry/…
They also published this longform piece on company towns. I actually got paid twice for this as a magazine that shall remain nameless paid me a kill fee when we didn't see eye-to-eye on final edits.

Company Towns Are Still with Us: prospect.org/article/compan…
I enjoyed writing this review almost as I enjoyed reading the book:

Take This Bullshit Job and Pretend to Love It: prospect.org/article/take-b… via @theprospect
I wrote a bunch for @UCSWorkerInst (probably my best-paying gig for the year).

This dual book review on workplace safety & violence might make you throw up:
unionist.com/blogs/news/thi…
I adapted that piece for this gruesome @siadvance op-ed:

'Cut red tape?' People are dying in the workplace! s.silive.com/gYOU0AE #StatenIsland #SafeAtWork
.@UCSWorkerInst also let me use my poison pen on Elon Musk:

unionist.com/blogs/news/elo…
Although, I think I was meaner to @jonathanchait in this @inthesetimesmag piece:

You’re a Sad Scab, Mr. Chait: inthesetimes.com/working/entry/…
Other pieces for @inthesetimesmag include this look at free speech and NLRB elections:

Republicans Are Taking Voter Suppression to the Workplace: inthesetimes.com/working/entry/…
This piece on the Supreme Court's free speech chaos got a lot of traction in the run-up to Janus:

Here’s How a Supreme Court Decision To Gut Public Sector Unions Could Backfire on the Right: inthesetimes.com/working/entry/…
The #RedForEd strikes got people thinking about how union competition can fan the flames of worker discontent, myself included:

The West Virginia Teachers’ Strike Has Activists Asking: Should We Revive the Wildcat? inthesetimes.com/working/entry/…
Finally, @inthesetimesmag asked me to propose 1 labor law reform that progressive legislators should consider post-Janus. I cheated and squeezed 3 into this:

Nonunion Workers Can Save Unions. We Just Need to Reimagine How We Collect Dues. inthesetimes.com/features/janus…
I got to write "tax the crap out of the billionaires" in tis @siadvance op-ed:

Drop all the bridge tolls, tax the billionaires s.silive.com/2FNTo4f #StatenIsland
Finally, on Labor Day, I got an op-ed in @NYDailyNews on how labor education can help restore the power of the labor movement.

A history lesson on saving labor: Look to how unions rebounded in the 1920s for insight on how they can make progress today nydailynews.com/opinion/ny-ope…
Nearly forgot! @KBronfenbrenner, @chactivist & I debated exclusive representation for @inthesetimesmag.

After Janus, should unions abandon exclusive representation? salon.com/2018/06/02/aft…
(I'm linking to Salon because @inthesetimesmag website is super fucked up today for some reason, @MilesKLassin.)
