1947 - Egypt's Amb. to UN: "If the UN decide to amputate a part of Palestine in order to establish a Jewish state..Jewish blood will necessarily be shed elsewhere in the Arab world."

NECESSARILY, he said. Being Anti-Zionist meant being anti-Jewish from the beginning.
1947- Egypt's PM: “All Jews are potential Zionists...all Zionists are Communists."
1948 - Egypt expels Jews for being Zionists or Communists.
1948-52 - Anti-Jewish riots and bombings. 108 murdered, 100s injured, 200+ businesses razed. 40% of Egypt's Jewish population flees.
1954 - Egypt nationalizes most Jewish businesses, seizes assets.
1956 - Egypt expels Jews who are French or British citizens.
1967 - Egypt arrests all Jewish men. Many put in camps, tortured, starved, sexually abused. Almost all are ultimately expelled, their property seized.
In 1945 over 100,000 Jews lived in Egypt. Today, less than 20.

The story of the Egyptian Jews is the story of Jews across the Middle East.
Jews lived in what is now the Arab world for over 2,600 years, a millennium before Islam was founded, centuries before the Arab conquest.
For most of history, the majority of Jews lived in the Middle East. The greatest rabbis in Jewish history lived and taught there. Yemen had a medieval Jewish kingdom. Jews lived in what is now Iraq since the destruction of the Jerusalem Temple by the Babylonians in 586 BCE.
Before WWII, Baghdad was 33% Jewish, the NYC of its day. Across the Arab world Jews were leaders in the arts, cinema, literature, business. That is all gone. The Jews of Libya, Algeria, Syria, Egypt. Gone.
In 1945 more than 850,000 Jews lived in the Arab world. Today, there are less than 5,000. A shocking 99.5% of Middle Eastern Jews fled or were expelled. #EthnicCleansing These Jewish refugees received no humanitarian aid from the UN, no compensation for their stolen property.
The 850,000 Jewish refugees from the Arab world were never recognized by human rights organizations, or championed by any celebrities. Instead, most fled to the world's only Jewish state, where they and their descendants make up about 50% of the Jewish population of Israel.
These #ForgottenRefugees deserve recognition and compensation. Recognition of their storied history, of their world that was destroyed, of their murdered dead. Compensation for the homes, land, and property, stolen from them by Arab governments who've never acknowledged them.

#ForgottenRefugees
The value of all the property stolen from Jews across the Arab world is estimated at $250 Billion.

The lives and the claims of these 850,000 Jews and their descendants must be recognized.
