It's almost as if making it easier to quickly deport people seeking asylum could create ... complications. This is from DOJ's latest status report — documentcloud.org/documents/5683… — in the case where the govt was ordered to bring the plaintiffs back for new credible fear interviews.

And here's my thread on the weird moment where DOJ initially asked for a stay allowing the admin to stop trying to return the plaintiffs during the shutdown but then backed down when the judge asked DOJ to explain the rationale for why a stay would be OK:
