This is the most important buried headline & content related to the #shutdown for us all to reflect upon.

No one properly framed the truth of the tax return sleight of hand the way @laurapdavison framed it.

Follow her. She knows how to tell the truth.

bloomberg.com/amp/news/artic…
"The policy change also removes a major political incentive for lawmakers and the White House to reach a deal in the coming weeks. (1/2)
If refunds won’t be held hostage, the shutdown effects will be felt much less widely, relieving some of the strain on Congress and Trump to resolve the current impasse over money for a wall on the Mexican border"(2/2)
"If people weren’t able to get refunds there would be “excruciating pressure” on lawmakers to cut a deal, said Mark Everson, a former IRS commissioner. (1/2)
The calls congressional offices are receiving about the wall would morph into inquiries about why families haven’t received their refunds, he said."(2/2)
"In the past, the IRS has said it couldn’t issue refunds during a shutdown based on its interpretation of the Antideficiency Act, the rules governing what type of government work is permissible during a shutdown to protect life and property."
"The issue is becoming less theoretical by the day, as the Trump administration takes pains to blunt the effects of the standoff by tapping user-fee revenue, leftover funding and other resources to keep some politically popular agency functions going."
There are enough legal minds on this proper hunt.

Now we need enough messengers to spread the word that without a promise of prompt tax returns, tax returns will still be on time, because the threat of irreversibly poor optics from Trump's own base will make Trump cave.
Which is the entire reason he pulled this illegal stunt: above all else, he does not want to explain to his base how the wall should mean more to them than prompt tax returns.

Because it doesn't mean THAT much to them. They only want to maga SO LONG AS their $ isn't disturbed.
When you want the #shutdown to continue, you relieve the pressure that would otherwise turn your own base against you.

When you want the #shutdown to end, you fight the dirty methods implemented to relieve the pressure.
@newtgingrich says "raising the heat" leads to problem solving.

Let us take him at his word for a moment...

If your goal is to raise the heat, why "relieve excruciating pressure"?
"To be sure, delaying tax refund payments would be a monumentally hard sell politically. Many taxpayers count on those payments, using them as a sort of forced-savings account and plan major expenditures around them. Republicans would, no doubt, pounce on such a move."
"Were that to happen, Lew could face some very difficult questions. Among them: Why did you pay out tax refunds months before you had to, leaving no money to pay obligations coming due much sooner?"
As opposed to the seemingly simple question of "Should I or shouldn't I reinterpret the Antideficiency Act?"

And @RussVought45 "solved a problem" that he insinuates @SecLew was incapable of solving on behalf of @BarackObama.

Wasn't capable, or wasn't willing?
A response to the test balloon messaging I recently sent out

@LeftwardSwing @RonPlacone @TheYoungTurks @jimmy_dore

Please help edit and then spread this messaging. I think it has a chance to gain momentum if we all say this in our own way.

Sincerest thanks for your consideration.
