1. As we approach the elections, we are determined to give you information that would help you to make informed choices at the elections. We present the FGN scorecard on Social Investment (investing in poor and vulnerable Nigerians).
Thread...
2. Prior to May 2015:
As at 2012, over 100 million Nigerians were in poverty & 10.5 million children out of school with an increase in youth unemployment. The current report also shows that as at 2015, 13.2 million children were out of school. See premiumtimesng.com/news/top-news/…
3. Please note the specific date of reference for the number of out of school children. The report references that the number 13.2 million in 2015 prior to the current FGN's term commencement.
4. As at 2015, youth unemployment was also at an all-time high with a significant deficit of skilled workforce in the housing and construction sector, leading to poor quality of local services and an influx of foreign workers to the domestic market.
5. Additionally, prior to 2015, the nation had a lack of last-mile agricultural extension services. This affected efficiency and under-utilization of agricultural resources.
What has been and is being done:
FGN conceived the @NSIP_NG
6. The @NSIP_NG is investing in the lives of Nigerians. The Govt is reaching children, farmers, traders, young graduates, the elderly:
a) Engagement of 500,000 graduates across Nigeria through the N- Power Programme to man previously unmanned classrooms in every LGA
7. The @npower_ng enrolees also provide agriculture extension services to farmers & serve as community health extension workers.
b) For skills development in addition to physical training N-Power Agro beneficiaries were given computing devices .
8. The devices contain over 1 million training resources for teaching in classrooms, the entire primary school curriculum with text books, lesson plans, study guides including personal development tools for coding, critical thinking, communication, entrepreneurship & others.
9. All facts about the @NSIP_NG are in the NextLevel Scorecard of the APC. From the testimonies of the @npower_ng beneficiaries it is obvious that the programme was well-thought out by the FGN and different from all the attempts of former admins in social safety nets.
10.Let us choose wisely on Febuhari 16. Do we want to return to an era where no one considered the vulnerable in our society & govt was run for the benefit of a few cronies, or we stay with PMB/PYO who have the emancipation of the downtrodden as their mission? Vote wisely for PMB
