59% say they support raising the top tax marginal rate to 70 percent, which is weird because centrist pundits have spent the last two weeks saying that would be political suicide.
And props to the pollsters for nailing the wording on this one.
A 70% tax rate on income above $10 million is more popular (59% support) than:
Obamacare: 51%
Estate tax elimination: 48%
Trump's wall: 42%
Trump: 41%
Brett Kavanaugh: 41%
Trump tax cuts: 40%
Nancy Pelosi: 38%

Let's talk about rigging: here's an amazing new study that traces how corporations convert charitable donations into political influence washingtonpost.com/business/2019/…
A team of researchers headed by Marianne Bertrand at the University of Chicago compiled a dataset of A) every donation to a non-profit by a Fortune 500 company and B) every public comment on a regulation submitted to regulations.gov between 2003 and 2015
They made some surprising findings: First, when a firm donated to a non-profit, that non-profit became 2 to 4 times more likely to comment on a rule that the firm also commented on. Interesting! washingtonpost.com/business/2019/…

WOW!

Unlike the initial Trump-Russia investigation (which was looking primarily at events in 2016), the counterintel investigation was basically surveillance in 2017+.

Last week made 19 years that I survived my suicide attempt. At the hospital I found out that I had been within five minutes of losing my life. Now it makes sense that these last two weeks have been a bit trying for me. I didn't realize I was coming up on that anniversary
I am in a much better place than I was back then but I still struggle. What I realized over the last few weeks is the tools that I have used to cope all these years have been to suppress my issues rather than to deal with them. I realized there is no shame in asking for help.
I figured out I can't change things & people but I can let it go & I can change my reaction & I can change my perspective on life. I just need to finally get the tools to help me get there. I want to be able to lead my best life possible & to enjoy it. I now know I deserve it .

Words cannot describe how much I hate the VA sometimes.
I’ve been trying to see a dentist for weeks. Because of my disability rating I can see a dentist in my community through the choice program which is a good thing because the nearest VA dentist is an hour and a half away.
I used to have a dentist 15 minutes from my house but I lost him after the VA didn’t pay a bunch of bills and he started refusing VA patients.

I keep thinking back to a discussion a few months on reddit about THE BELGARIAD. Several comments were made about it being cliche and pedestrian, and someone said, “Yeah, it’s a fine story, but it’s never going to be a classic.”
And all I could think to respond was, “It’s over thirty years later and we’re still talking about it. How is that NOT ‘a classic’?
But that got me thinking- I cite THE BELGARIAD (and THE MALLOREON, its sequel series) as one of my influential works. But what is that influence? I know I’ve read the whole series several times. My copies of the books are in terrible shape.

It's a good piece on writers & suicide, with an emphasis on #LGBT suicides because we kill ourselves more (thanks #homophobia/#transphobia)than str8 people.

Society still romanticizes #depression instead of treating it.
