Warning, this is a monologue on my current thoughts on #Brexit.

I hate Brexit, #IamEuropean, yet I think the UK needs to exit with a no deal.

Sadly, I believe the UK needs to exit the EU without a #brexit deal.

That 30-40% of its population that has post-Imperial delusions need a rude awakening of what the 21st century world is like.

Then, the UK may rejoin the EU in 10-15 years time.

The sad part of this #nodeal #brexit is the people that end up dying unnecessarily because of the Brexiteers pipe dreams.

I'd like a #Brexit version of China Mieville's City and the City called the Passport and the Passport.

Blue Passport for the nutters to suffer the consequences of their delusional #brexit dreams. Burgundy passports for the rest of the population.

The hard Brexiteers need to get their #Brexit.

If they don't, they'll never stop believing in their Tooth Fairy and will hold the country to ransom for decades.

#Brexit will probably not happen.

However, that may only create more problems. People that are now hard-Brexiteers, cheerleading for a no deal Brexit, will not stop there if there is #noBrexit.

The "Maastricht Bastards" are alive and kicking 30 years on. And now have lots of new friends. They are still pursuing their delusional dream of a grandiose empire. #brexit

That dream of a new Rule Britannia needs to be shattered. The UK needs to find a modern identity and stop looking back to Queen Victoria and Churchill.

That can only happen going through the barren land of a no deal #Brexit. Sadly.

People argue that if the #Brexit referendum happen today, with what we know now, it would be a remain result.

I agree.

Yet, that doesn't undo "time". The referendum happened. It produced a result few people expected. You can't undo that.

Despite all we know, 30-40% of the population are still staunch supporters of a crazy hard #Brexit. That's a huge proportion of the population.

The fundamental flaw of the #peoplesvote or second referendum is that it would only replace the winners. It would not address the issue

This #brexit situation reminds me of the basic plot premise of Isaac Asimov's Foundation series.

There, the first Galactic Empire is doomed to fail. The interregnum period until a new Galactic order forms would be 30,000 years.

Hari Seldon has the opportunity to shorten that period to 1,000 years only by establishing the two Foundations.

Similar with #Brexit. The UK is broken right now. Reversing Brexit would break this country even more with infighting for generations.

A no deal #Brexit will show up how delusional Brexit is, finally make the country accept the colonial era is over, finally have the need to find its true modern identity and then rejoin the EU in 10-15 years as a valuable equal partner.

One final note. #brexit is extremely complex stuff. We can't have any assurances of what will happen. It could be that #brexit turns out to be something awesome...in the very long term! I'm talking 20-30 years from now. What we do know is that the short term damage will be epic.
