Theresa May says it's time to put the national interest first. If she were sincere, she would:-
1) Take "no deal" off the table (we were never going to go there anyway - far too damaging)
2) Tear up her red lines, for the purpose of trying to reach common cause with other parties
Of course, Theresa May knows full well that doing the right thing by the UK would mean ripping the Tory party apart, because there are views inside her own party as antithetical as matter and antimatter. She knows it but can't admit it, otherwise there would be no hiding the fact
that the biggest obstacle in the Brexit process, by far, is the internal machinations of the Tory party.

So instead she's going about a mock-sincere listening exercise that quietens critics for a few days and allows for a bit more can-kicking. We're still going to be stuck at
the end of it, unless she has the guts to face down the thugs of the ERG and say "you know what, if you want your unicorn and apocalypse Brexit, the door's right over there" then scrubs out her red line and comes up with a genuine compromise that other parties will carry.
