- There is something not adding up about the Moscow Tower story. First, as called out 👇, if true then wtf is Mueller doing? Second, why would Don Jr lie about it to Congress. There is nothing nefarious about real estate developers pursuing real estate projects (cont.).
- If Trump loses the election, as everyone thought he would, they likely go back to this project. And they didn't pursue it after Trump became the candidate - the article makes that clear. So that aspect is once again just "thought crimes". The offense is lying about it (cont).
- I can see where Trump probably didn't want to publicize it, given the already ginned up hysteria over Russia. But it makes no sense to expose himself like that with Cohen, and again, it makes no sense for Don Jr. to hide anything (cont).
- For example, Cohen reputedly briefed Ivanka and Don Jr multiple times - so what? And in the world of Don Jr, who is to say that is not "peripheral involvement". He was being briefed, he wasn't working the deal (cont).
- And how exactly did "directed Micheal Cohen to lie to Congress" by Trump manifest itself? He texted him? He told him in a meeting with a bunch of people present? Seriously? (cont).
- I mean it's not like you sit in your morning staff meeting going through topics and you say "Michael, on that Moscow Tower thing with Congress, go lie about that. Next." (cont.).
- Also, note the wording in the article. Buzzfeed did not review the evidence, only validated the statement that SC had. So what exactly this treasure trove of e-mails, text messages, and documents actually conveys, we do not know for sure (cont).
- Finally, if this was so clear-cut, why wasn't Cohen charged with Obstruction of Justice rather than just making "false statements"? It doesn't matter if he was directed to do it, he still knew what he was doing (cont).
- If you are SC and you want "the walls to close in on Trump", what better way to do it than charge a top lieutenant with a real crime that ties directly back to Trump, versus a process crime?
- Anyway, it's just weird. Weird that if SC has all this damning evidence, they haven't done much with it. Weird that, if true, the Trumps would have worked so hard to cover up something that wasn't illegal or otherwise nefarious (cont).
- Something tells me there's more to this story, and when it's sorted out it will be like so many of the other "bombshells". I.e. not near as cataclysmic as the "we've got him this time" media will make it out to be. We'll see...

Addendum - it appears my initial instincts were correct. Special Counsel rarely if ever comments on anything, and yet this re Buzzfeed story...
