Just a theory, but plausible. Helps explain why he fought tooth and nail against Christie’s transition plans. He never thought there’d be a transition.
Also squares with the reports that both Melania and Karen were freaking livid on election night. Melania cried. Karen angrily rebuffed a congratulatory kiss and said “You got what you wanted Mike.”
Back in March 2017 I was struck by how disinterested the entire Trump clan was in actually governing, and wrote up this thread speculating that the POTUS run was 1st and foremost a branding/business move (w/ an eye on Russian capital), not a political one.
The story of Trump and Russia, when it comes out, is not going to read like some Tom Clancy novel...it's going to resemble Dumb and Dumber.

1. A parable in reference to the Democratic Primary of 2020. A family is in the market for a new car.

Person 1 says "ooh, I like this Volkswagen." Person 2 says "nice, a Nazi car. Really? Study your history, a-hole! Who are you? I mean, OMG, who the f- are you?!?!?"
2. Person 1 says, "Ok, how about this Honda? It's got a sun roof, which is cool." Person 2 says, "So you want me to die of skin cancer. Is that what you're saying? I mean, just say it to my face, no need to mask it like this. Why not just poison my food and get it over with?"
3. Person 1 says, "Ok, how about this Nissan Leaf?" Person 2 says, "Oh I see, so you're all green now, eh? How many times did you fly last year? Didn't you drive a gas guzzler when I met you? This hypocrisy of yours is shameful and outrageous."

Mike Lee (R-UT) has resuscitated the racist & discredited Moynihan Report (1965) to argue that MLK would agree with white nationalist Tucker Carlson that a conservative populism (what historians generally refer to as fascism) is the best road forward. Happy MLK day everyone!
Worth noting that since Mike Lee was born in 1971, his party of choice has rarely garnered more than 10% of the black vote. I just can't imagine why that is. Clearly, the problem here is that black people don't know how to vote right. Right? <sarcasm>
Many people say that The National Review is just The Federalist or Breitbart with a bowtie. This "MLK would totally agree with Tucker Carlson" hot take sure adds credence to that interpretation.

1. The Covington kerfuffle produced a significant amount of conversation amongst my more politically moderate (but totally non-MAGA) friends on FB. Many worry about the rush to brand those boys as "racists." This is a subset of the "is it racist to vote for Donald Trump" convo.
2. Here's my response, FWIW.
3. The term "racist" is indeed tricky here. The group's *actions* struck me as racist...they still do. Calling them "racists" is another matter. I'd say that *anyone* socialized into white America is, to varying degrees (and I include myself in this), socialized to be racist.

In Georgia, SoS Brian Kemp was on notice a system they used to flag voter registration was discriminatory and inaccurate. Lawmakers stuck with it anyway. 53,000 people's registrations are now in suspense, approx 70% of whom are black huffingtonpost.com/entry/georgia-…
Also in Georgia officials in one county wanted to close 7/9 polling places, but it quickly became public they had no reason for doing that. They kept the polling places open after public outcry. Since 2013, the state has closed 8 percent of its polls ajc.com/news/state--re…

First of all, let us clear up what exactly was settled. There were two proceedings going on in MJ’s case parallel: a criminal investigation conducted by the State of California and a civil lawsuit filed by the accusing family, the Chandlers.

This was 2003, just after I’d successfully campaigned for Ferns Inquiry, the 1st investigation of clerical abuse in an Irish diocese. The Church fought tooth & nail against its establishment. This attempt to suppress information is no surprise #Stand4Truth irishtimes.com/news/social-af…
We were campaigning for a full inquiry into abuse in the Archdiocese of Dublin at the time. The Church was still denying that abuse was commonplace & that it knew about it & had covered it up. It argued that Canon (church) Law was superior to the law of the state. #Stand4Truth
It was also the the same period within which the Vatican asserted diplomatic immunity to block my civil action against the Pope to try force them to reveal what they knew about the priest who had raped me and dozens of other boys. #Stand4Truth
