1. A parable in reference to the Democratic Primary of 2020. A family is in the market for a new car.
Person 1 says "ooh, I like this Volkswagen." Person 2 says "nice, a Nazi car. Really? Study your history, a-hole! Who are you? I mean, OMG, who the f- are you?!?!?"
Person 1 says "ooh, I like this Volkswagen." Person 2 says "nice, a Nazi car. Really? Study your history, a-hole! Who are you? I mean, OMG, who the f- are you?!?!?"
2. Person 1 says, "Ok, how about this Honda? It's got a sun roof, which is cool." Person 2 says, "So you want me to die of skin cancer. Is that what you're saying? I mean, just say it to my face, no need to mask it like this. Why not just poison my food and get it over with?"
3. Person 1 says, "Ok, how about this Nissan Leaf?" Person 2 says, "Oh I see, so you're all green now, eh? How many times did you fly last year? Didn't you drive a gas guzzler when I met you? This hypocrisy of yours is shameful and outrageous."
4. Yeah, so any of these cars will be fine and far preferable to the alternative. We can have a productive deliberation about the relative merits of the cars and ultimately make a decision. Or we can go to DefCom 1 at the mention of any single option.
