Yougov updated its EU tracker poll...

Pretty consistent Brexit Right lead 3-4 points (from 2016 till April 2017
Level pegging after GE2017
Brexit Wrong consistent small lead since Sep 2017
Brexit Wrong close to double digit lead vs Brexit Right, over past month (at it w/o DK)
...or alternatively on its tracker poll, it’s now exactly a year since Yougov found a majority (+1) who thought Brexit was Right versus wrong... the last three reading for that are , -9, -7, -11 (ie in favour of Brexit was wrong)

The real horror story for the Government here is the polling over time for its handling of Brexit:

Started off pretty bad in autumn 2016 -30
Gets less bad after Lancaster House -15
Goes Positive after Article 50
Collapses after GE2017 -30
Total freefall -50/ -70 since July

Another former Cabinet Minister Brexiter told me that Brady amendment was “too vague” and would wait to see what PM said...

Government Brexit animation joyfully explaining via tickboxes that businesses “like yours” are preparing for No Deal in 9 weeks time:

✅ Customs Declarations
✅ Safety & security declarations
✅ Documents at the border
✅ Product licenses
✅ Temporary import processes
“To keep your supply chain running smoothly.. talk to your suppliers and customers”...

For reference - Irish Government was funding business supply chain changes with loans just under a year ago.
Actually interesting that it doesn’t mention that these tickboxes only apply to a No Deal situation.... but they only apply in a No Deal situation. They won’t be required if there’s a deal or if A50 extended.

Airbus chief exec attacks Brexit “disgrace” - no Deal will divert investment and make no mistake other countries want to build wings for aircraft. “Airbus not dependent on UK”...

It did warn about this months ago.
In Whitehall, expecting cascade of these types of announcements hearing now of active moves in EU capitals to cultivate various multinationals to activate No Deal relocation plans for HQs/ manufacturing from UK for those that need to maintain EU single market privileges

@andrew_lilico is in the spotlight today for a fairly dispicable tweet which I won't repeat here.

But Lilico is also a "leading" Brexit economist who put together an interesting article

To clarify, I am remain, but I feel a 2nd ref is monumentally risky & perhaps dangerous:-

1. Polls haven't changed much, result could easily be the same
2. Another campaign of hate will embolden the far right
3. If remain win. Leavers will demand another vote
4. Chaos & unrest are likely whatever the result, possibly violence too

What happens if it's still 'Leave'? Picture the chaos, square one. You're simply allowing the Tories more time to fail to come up with a solution. Every day that continues people in this country will suffer
What if it's 'Remain'? Leavers will, with some justification, query why this vote is more valid than the first. This has the potential to cause a constitutional crisis.

People can say 'we know the facts now' all they like, that will not placate millions of angry voters.

Small thread to confidently predict the #Brexit end game. Quite simply there is no other plausible scenario then this..

1/ increasingly clear what will happen with #Brexit. The EU will take the #Chequers deal, tweak it, likely beyond recognition, so it fits them.
2/ ..as there is now no time left for negotiations, May will have little resistance to EU. It will be a Canada+ deal with as many optional extras that prompt payment of £39bn can buy - probably not that much. NIreland will be fudged.

Then the great House of Commons showdown...
3/ the great parliamentary showdown simply won’t happen. 650 MPs will be faced with horrible but ultimately easy choice: a lousy deal or a catastrophic no deal. 200 Tory MPs will back govt. it will only take a few dozen Labour MPs to abstain or vote for #brexit and it will pass.

Ford Transit moved 2Turkey 2013 with EU grant.
Jaguar Land Rover recently agreed 2 build a new plant in Slovakia with EU grant, owned by Tata, same company who trashed our steel industry & emptied workers pension funds.

Peugeot closed its Ryton (was Rootes Group) plant and moved production to Slovakia with EU grant.
British Army's new Ajax fighting vehicles to be built in SPAIN using SWEDISH steel at the request of the EU to support jobs in Spain with EU grant, rather than Wales.

Dyson gone 2 Malaysia, with EU loan. Crown Closures, Bournemouth (Was METAL BOX), gone 2Poland with EU grant,employed 1,200.
M&S manufacturing gone 2far east with EU loan.
Hornby models gone. In fact all toys & models gone from UK along with patents all with EU grants

1/ Very small thread on why many people (including me) have been getting #Brexit wrong. We've been blinded by the theatre & complex issues of the "EU negotiations" - but in fact its much simpler than that....indeed.....
2/ #Brexit "EU negotiations" are not in any significant way actually taking place, & to the extent that that they are at a minor level even these are largely irrelevant. Once I grasped this everything else of the last 12 months made sense.....
3/ The political establishment whether Corbyn's Labour or May's Conservatives (& indeed much of the political media) are, contrary to the breathless reporting of BBC etc, largely unconcerned with the concrete nature of the EU process (not negotiations) of #Brexit. For 2 reasons..
