Did Muhammad Receive Revelation?

Keeping in mind we now know what sort of mental disorders may make people believe that they are talking to God. Muhammad's case sounds like something explainable with neuroscience.

- Muhammad himself admits to hearing trees and stones talk to him

- Muhammad would faint when something that he wasn't comfortable with would occur. His lower garment fell once and he passed out.

- Muhammad said in the cave he got wrestled to the ground and couldn't breathe. He initially thought he was possessed or going crazy and tried throwing himself of mountains. a) suicidal tendencies b) stiff muscles can cause difficulty breathing in seizures. (Ibn Ishaq)
- Muhammad describes muscles twitching with terror. Uncontrollable rapid muscle movements are also a symptom of a seizure.

- Muhammad would hear ringing bells as a form of revelation. That's the most common precursor to a seizure.

- Muhammad would have jittery lips to the point some companions said he sounded like a she camel or a hoard of bees and the used to cover his face when he would have these experiences.

He would have vivid audio and visual hallucinations. The most interesting one is if it's an image generated by your brain. The image is visible wherever you look. Muhammad said he saw Gabriel wherever he looked in the sky.

I'll personally add that I am agnostic about all these details about his life. Personally I don't think the seerah and hadith are reliable but for Muslims who accept them, it might be interesting to look at
